EFW Radiology’s History

EFW Radiology had its beginnings in 1969 as the Foothills Association of Radiologists and soon after opened the first community clinic, under the name of Evans Morrish and Associates. In the 80s, we would agree on another new name that happened to stick: Elliot, Fong, Wallace and Associates, now more commonly known as EFW Radiology.

EFW has offered MRI services for over 40 years with specialists such as Dr. Carla Wallace, who is one of the founding members of EFW. Dr. Wallace was featured in the Calgary Sun back in 1989, where the system was unveiled at the Foothills Hospital. At this time, it was the first MRI system in Southern Alberta!

EFW launched the first Maternal Fetal Medicine location in 2002 at the Old Grace Hospital in Calgary with three perinatologists and two nurses. Now, we have 11 physician and 25 nurses across four locations in Calgary!

Over 20 years ago, EFW introduced Pain Management to the practice with the goal of improving quality of life and helping patients return to everyday activities without the need for surgery.

EFW is a proud Tour Alberta for Cancer supporter since 2008. One of many ways EFW gives back to the community.

EFW Cambrian opened in 2010 with EFW’s first owned and operated MRI machine.

EFW Radiology has been the official medical imaging provider for the Calgary Stampede since 2012.

EFW embraced the latest technology with a new high-resolution nuclear medicine camera.

EFW forged a meaningful partnership with Fear is Not Love and Toy Mountain, extending the existing support for over a decade. Toy Mountain’s annual initiative makes a difference in the lives of Calgarians in need of toys and basic essential items each holiday season and year-round.

With the growth of EFW Radiology across all modalities and teams, EFW employs over 120 Sonographers across eight locations in Calgary and area!
